Once you start growing beautiful flowers, and then turning the flowers into beautiful dyes, it's a real path. And the secret is: it can be a very simple process! While you certainly can use additives to make the dye stronger or enhance the color, you can also, for the most part, pop the blooms in some boiling water with some natural fabric (old tank top, old tube socks, cotton bandana, wool sweater) and let the natural dyes take hold. It's a magic trick, and you can do it! Wool and silk are the best for dying, but cotton works too. All of these 5 seed varieties make a fun, beginner-friendly dye. And all of them make lovely cut flowers as well for bouquets. Have fun. We'll help.

How to Plant
Tuck seeds 1/8" deep, 2" apart. Water gently and regularly as seedlings emerge over the next 2 wks. Once babies are 2” tall, pluck so there's just one per 12"
Where to Plant
Find a place that gets a decent amount of sun, and space seeds 2" apart, thin plants to about 9" apart.
When to Plant
Plant outside after your average last frost in the spring.
When to Expect Blooms
Mid-summer through frost.
Water regularly until they get established, and then give them extra water during dry spells. Pick the flowers regularly (Bring the flowers in! Make bouquets! Have fun!) to encourage more blooms. And ask us any questions along the way.
