Dahlia are towering beauties of the Summer garden, coming into bloom around mid-Summer to steal the show with a stunning array of colors and shapes.
We are loving the cactus shape dahlias, like this Apricot Star Dahlia. With wild tenticles of color swirling everywhere. The Apricot peach color of this darling brightens towards a more yellow hue towards the center. Each plant grows tons of huge 6-7" blooms.
Planting conditions: Not too picky, tolerant of a variety of soil types, and happiest in full sun.
Care: Once they are happy and established in your garden, they are drought-tolerant, but will bloom more with more water.
Blooms: Mid-Late Summer through first frost. Deadhead the blooms regularly (meaning cut the flowers for bouquets, or if the flowers die on the plant cut them off) to encourage more blooms.
Tender Perennial: In zones 8-10 Dahlia will survive the Winter, but in most of the country it is an annual. You can dig up and store the tuber in order to re-plant it the following Spring, however.
Ships: as a tuber in the Spring. You can buy it as a plant instead here.
Flat rate $10 shipping no matter how many plants you buy.
We give your plants plenty of (recyclable) padding so they are cozy and safe during transit. We also monitor weather events and will contact you if unusual weather will impact your order's ship date.
If anything is not right about your plant when you receive it, please let us know and we will make it right.
