How to Plant
Dig a hole deep enough to accommodate the roots, about 12", so the top of the root is just below flush with the soil. Now give your new poppy a good wish, a few solid pats to compress the soil around it, and a long drink of water.
Where to Plant
Find a place that gets a decent amount of sun, and space roots about 15" apart.
When to Plant
Plant within a day or so of receiving your root, they are fine with some freezing temperatures if you haven't past your last frost date.
When to Expect Blooms
For two glorious weeks in early Summer
When buds begin to emerge, supplemental water will encourage more blooms. And ask us any questions along the way.
You can dead head the spent blooms, or leave them to develop their ornamental seed pods, which allows them to spread, or 'naturalize' the following season.
