Salpiglossis is also called 'Painted Tongue' because of the bi-colored centers in the pansy-like blooms. The unique coloring of these beauties is striking in the garden.
Planting conditions: Not too picky, tolerant of a variety of soil types, but doesn't like extreme heat. If you have hot summers plant in part shade.
Care: Once they are happy and established in your garden, they are drought-tolerant, but will bloom more with more water.
Blooms: Mid summer through Fall. Deadhead the blooms regularly (meaning cut the flowers for bouquets, or if the flowers die on the plant cut them off) to encourage more blooms.
Annual, will not overwinter.
Ships: as a plant in a 2.75" diameter pot, in the Spring.
