Yarrow, Achillea millefolium, is an easy to grow, and we love the ferny foliage and sturdy structural blooms, with huge blooms composed of a million tiny (also edible) flowers.
Yarrow is often used medicinally to help with cold and flu, to help sweat out fever. Dry the flowers, and then put them into a glass jar. Cover with boiling water and let steep for 15 minutes before straining and drinking.
Planting conditions: Likes regular water while blooming, but happy in hot and dry conditions, and drought tolerant once established.
Sun: Full sun is ideal.
Blooms: from mid-Summer through first frost.
Perennial: Yarrow is perennial, and will come back each year, in zones 3-9.
