Resurrection Fern
Looking for the perfect gift for the Black Thumb in your life? These hardy little guys are magically revived once placed in water. You can watch them open and return to green before your eyes. Native to the South East of the USA, they like to grow on tree limbs, but they'll be happy in a bowl or dish. Most plants can only lose 10% of their water and survive. This one can lose 97% and tough it out, which makes it the best plant for the worst gardener you know.

Selaginella Lepidophylla: Technically moss, not a fern! Put some pebbles in a dish, put the plant in the dish on the pebbles. Fill with water little by little until the plant absorbs the water and opens. When it starts to dry and close again, add more water. Keep in bright, indirect sunlight. That's it! |

Can they be in a cloche and should they be in constant water?
The whole trick behind the fern is that if it is try it closes and if it is wet it opens - so if you want it open all of the time, then yes! But if it becomes dry and it closes - simply add more more! A cloche is fine and will keep it moist indefinitely, but do be sure to periodically lifting the glass for airflow, so that it does not grow mold.

Hi there! The directions are simple! Just put it in a dish and dribble some water over it until it opens up and absorbs the water! I'll look into what happened to the directions - sorry they were left out!

Will this resurrection fern do well if placed in a crack in the bark of an old live oak in central NC? I do not want it for the tabletop.

Can I plant under a pecan tree?
The Resurrection Fern is more like a tabletop oddity than a garden plant:) Our other ferns should be happy under your tree, however!
