Rosanne Green Lisianthus Plants

We're really excited about these lime green Lisis. The Roseanne Green variety has everything you love about Lisianthus - they're like roses with no thorns, they are total blooming machines, they've got those pleasing, fleshy leaves - all in the most electrifying shade of chartreuse. Plant these with our Roseanne Brown Lisianthus, Diva Dahlia, and/or Purple Twist Snapdragon for a brilliant gem-toned cutting garden that will be the envy of the neighborhood. Luckily, you'll have so many blooms, you'll be able to share with everybody, (aren't you the sweetest!)

Lisianthus, native to central North America, has a gorgeous bloom that is akin to a rose shape. The stalks are constantly bursting with blooms all summer, and come in an amazing array of colors.

How to Plant Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Fill a little bit of the loose dirt back into the hole and tuck your plant in so the base of the stem is even with the top of the hole. Now fill in the rest of the soil around the roots, give the soft ground around the base of your new plant friend a few solid pats to compress the soil onto the roots, and a long, gentle drink of water
Where to Plant Find a place that gets a decent amount of sun, with rich, well-draining soil
When to Plant Plant outside in the late spring, once the soil has warmed up. Avoid the heat of the day when planting — plant in the early morning, late afternoon, or by the light of the moon
When to Expect Blooms Mid-summer through frost
Care Instructions Water regularly until they get established, and then give them extra water during dry spells. Pick blooms to encourage more

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • My Lisianthus plants are blooming again. After the heat of summer has passed, it seems the cooler fall temperatures have enticed them. Can I keep them in their containers to overwinter in my basement near a window?

Hi there! Lisianthus love tons and tons of sun - but their other key factor is plenty of air flow. Their native environment is the open plains, so it would take some effort to simulate that in a basement - such as grow lights and fans. I have also found that bringing in living plants from the outdoors results in bringing in other living things from the soil, like bugs and fungus. As annuals in most zones that have true winter, it's best to enjoy them while they last and allow them to complete their natural life cycle.
